Profile of the HemiPleat

State-of-the-art pleating technology is the key to the HemiPleat's superior performance. Synthetic beads hold the pleats of the cartridge open with wide pleat spacing not found in competitive cartridges, which are packed too tightly to maximize media use. The wider spacing of the HemiPleat design exposes more media to the gas stream and results in lower pressure drop as well as improved cartridge release characteristics during pulse cleaning. Meeting airflow requirements with a 25% smaller housing allows the Farr Gold Series to deliver premium performance at a competitive price and take up less factory floor space. The service benefits are numerous offering faster, trouble-free change-out of cartridges.

"The HemiPleat solved my cartridge life problems. The dust blows right out of the pleats whereas it wouldn't with standard pleats." - Grant Bowry, Air & Energy Solutions

HemiPleat eXtreme Media

In addition to the standard PolyTech™ filter media, HemiPleat® is also avaliable with eXtreme nano fiber media. Nano technology allows base material to have larger pore sizes, thus reducing the pressure drop and allowing the nano fibers to provide a superior efficiency layer. HemiPleat eXtreme media improves filtration efficiencies, is more durable, and can withstand rigorous pulse-cleaning. These advantages extend filter life and lower operation costs, saving you money.

Key Benefits of HemiPleat eXtreme

  • MERV 15 efficiency rating - higher than base paper rating of MERV 10 and competitors’ MERV 13 Nano Web product.
  • Delivers long-term low pressure drop on difficult applications like laser and plasma cutting, welding, thermal spray, etc.
  • HemiPleat eXtreme coating is thick, durable and can be seen. Competitive Nano coatings are so thin they can’t even be seen - is it even there?

What is the efficiency rating?

The photos below show eXtreme fine fiber layer (image A) applied to the surface of base cellulose fibers (B) to increase efficiency from a MERV 10 up to a MERV 15, which is higher than most other nano fiber filters on the market at MERV 13. MERV is an ASHRAE standard efficiency scale going from 1 to 16, 16 being the highest. Camfil APC also offers our High Efficiency (HE) media which has a MERV 16 rating for maximum initial efficiency. Tested efficiencies of 99.999% on 0.5 micron and larger particles by weight have been proven. Mass emissions are below 0.001 gr/dscf on most applications.

Why is HemiPleat eXtreme better?

  • Lower pressure drop through open pleat spacing improves cleaning efficiency, which will reduce energy costs through less compressed air consumption during cleaning in many applications.
  • More media is available for filtration, resulting in improved performance and longer life.
  • The separation beads, not the media pleats, contact the inner cage, protecting the media from frictional damage.
  • Camfil APC guarantees performance in writing—ask about the HemiPleat Guarantee.

In addition to Gold Cone™ cartridges for the Farr Gold Series®, HemiPleat eXtreme media is available as retrofit upgrade filters for all cartridge dust collectors. Request and download data sheets to see details of eXtreme media types available.

HemiPleat® Synthetic Media Filters

HemiPleat Synthetic media is available for Farr Gold Series® Gold Cone filters as well as retrofit filters to fit competitor dust collectors.

What is HemiPleat Synthetic?

Camfil APC has brought together two of its proven technologies to produce a dust collector filter with an efficient hybrid media suitable for harsh humid environments and capable of maintaining long life. This NEW media offers all the advantages of HemiPleat technology with the durability of Dura-Pleat® media. HemiPleat Synthetic is a light-weight 100% spun bond polyester media in a pleated design that maximizes surface area while maintaining open pleat spacing. The wider spacing of the HemiPleat design exposes more media to the air stream which results in lower pressure drop and improved dust release during pulse cleaning. The light-weight polyester design promotes an increase in filtration surface area at no added cost when compared to the Dura-Pleat filter. HemiPleat Synthetic media is available for Farr Gold Series® Gold Cone filters as well as retrofit filters to fit competitor dust collectors. Sturdy and durable, this media is moisture resistant and is not affected by harsh humid environments in operating temperatures of 160 degrees Fahrenheit or less. This washable media may be reused in many applications.

Key Benefits of HemiPleat Synthetic

  • More media available for filtration resulting in improved performance and longer life.
  • Washable media and resistant to moisture.
  • Ideally suited to tough applications including heavy dust loading conditions and/or hygroscopic dust properties as seen in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

State-of-the-art pleating technology is the key to the HemiPleat’s superior performance. Techniques used to manufacture the media packs of this cartridge are unique, patented, and have never been applied to a cylindrical industrial dust collection filter before. Synthetic beads hold the pleats of the cartridge open with wide pleat spacing not found in competitor cartridges, which are packed too tightly to maximize media use. HemiPleat Synthetic is also available with eXtreme nano fibers applied. The eXtreme layer acts like a prefilter to the base media and doesn’t allow most dust particles to “depth load” (or embed in the media). Most of the dust is captured at the surface of the media because the pores on the eXtreme media are so small. This “surface loading” is what increases the filters cleaning ability, which in turn extends filter life.

HemiPleat vs. Competitor

HemiPleat® Conductive filters combine high filtration efficiency, long service life, and energy-efficient performance with anti-static properties. We use a special carbon-impregnated media designed for use where conveyed dusts generate static charges that require dissipation.

Applications

  • Fumed silica dust
  • Plastic
  • PVC or composite dusts
  • Carbon black/toner dusts

Conductive cartridges can also be used on dusts that are explosive to meet NFPA requirements for grounded media. The HemiPleat anti-static media is available in the full selection of HemiPleat cartridge styles, to fit virtually all new and existing cartridge dust collectors. It is also the only filter to combine anti-static properties with an award-winning, patented open-pleat design that results in better airflow through the cartridge and better cleaning characteristics, resulting in energy-efficient performance and long life.

HemiPleat Conductive, anti-static cartridges are available to fit any industrial dust collector.

HemiPleat Flame Retardant, Conductive Media Option

This filter is the first to combine flame retardant and conductive properties in a single filter that also offers high efficiency, long service life, and energy-efficient performance.

  • The special carbon-impregnated filtration media is designed for dust-handling applications that require flame resistance as well as dissipation of static charges – including many metal dusts; fumed silica dust; plastic, PVC or composite dusts; pharmaceutical dusts and carbon black/toner dusts.  The cartridge filters are especially suited to explosive dust applications, making it possible to conform to NFPA and ATEX requirements and lessen the risk of ignition sources due to static electricity charges.
  • The new “two-in-one” conductive/flame retardant filters often allow the use of dry media-type dust collectors in applications where they otherwise could not have been used. They are available in a choice of two media types: the standard HemiPleat open-pleat high efficiency media, or the HemiPleat eXtreme nano fiber media which offers a MERV 15 efficiency rating and enhanced performance on difficult dust/fume applications and highly explosive processes.
